Albert "Butch" Schnur, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Columbia Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room following a cardiac episode at his home.
Butch was born in Catskill on November 2, 1946 to the late Adam A. and Frances M. Lennon Schnur. Upon graduation from Catskill High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served from 1967 to 1971 earning the rank of Sergeant in 1969. He married his beloved wife of 53 years, the former Rosemary Troy, on November 16, 1968 at St. Mary's Church in Hudson. An active member of the community, Butch coached Babe Ruth, the Men's Old Timers' Softball League, the Continental Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, and volunteered with Hose 1 Fire Co. He retired from the Greene Co. Sheriff's Dept. as the Jail Administrator where he had served for many years.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary Schnur of Catskill and their two children: Thomas Schnur of Catskill and Mrs. Brian (Jennifer) Brynda of Coxsackie; one granddaughter, Kailey Brynda; two brothers: Frank and Michael Schnur; sister Theresa Madrid; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers: Matthew and Joseph Schnur.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill on Thursday, April 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. when a funeral service will be conducted.
