Mr. Coyle was born in New York City on February 13, 1928 to the late Hugh and Ethel Crosas Coyle. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1947 and served for three years. Upon his release from active duty he joined the Third Marine Corps Reserve District and was discharged as a Corporal in 1951. He then joined the Nassau Police Department, where he served for twenty years and retired in 1974. He relocated to South Cairo where he owned and operated the Golden Lion Bar, Restaurant, and Motel on Main Street in Cairo. He was a former member of Catskill Elks Lodge 1341 and parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Cairo.
He is survived by his eight children: Susan and Bill Forschler, Patrick and Mayrose Coyle, Robert and Winnie Coyle, Eileen and Mike Stewart, Catherine and Kevin Jeffryes, Jeanne and Richard Sedgwick, James and Lisa Coyle, and Anne Carlson, as well as twenty-one grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Susan Mulvihill Coyle on May 5, 1991 and their son Arthur Coyle in 1993.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 9 at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church in Cairo with Rev. Jeremiah Nunan, officiating. Interment will follow in the Cairo Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A special thank you to the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for the ten years of caring and kindness.
