A graduate of the Catskill High School Class of 1943; Bertha worked as a riveter on the lower Catskill waterfront during World War II. After the war; she worked for a short time at Lerner’s clothing store. On April 15, 1947 she married Stanley William “Pete” Templeton. Bertha then became a devoted mother and homemaker.
An active member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and their Altar Guild, Bertha was also a volunteer for the Green County “Meals on Wheels” program. She loved to sew on her old Singer sewing machine, but Bertha will best be remembered taking the time to always attend her sons and grandsons sporting events. She was always quite boisterous during softball and baseball games.
Surviving are her three sons Dennis Templeton and his wife Karen of Catskill, Bruce Templeton and his wife Alice of St. James, and Robert Templeton of Catskill. Grandchildren Amy Heimink, Brook, John, Angela, Ashley, Chris, Adam and Scott Templeton. Twelve great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.
Bertha’s husband Pete died November of 1980. Her siblings Leonard, George H., Dewey and Fred Robinson and Annabelle Deluca Early died previously.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 25th at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, William Street, Catskill. Inurnment at 10:00 am on Monday, November 27th on the EAST side of Town of Catskill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 50 Williams St., Catskill; Catskill Community Center, POB 389, Catskill; or Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Cremation services provided by Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill.
