Obituary

Dawn M. Martin, 52, of Cauterskill Ave., Catskill passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Vassar Medical Center.
She was born on Long Island, a daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth McCormick Watson. Dawn was a self-employed mortgage specialist for Veracity Home Mortgage. She married Kevin C. Kratchel on January 1, 2017.
Dawn belonged to the Abundant Life Tabernacle in Kingston. Her fierce devotion to God and her faith as well as her unparalleled compassion and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
Surviving are her husband, Kevin, two sons Trevor Martin of Catskill and Trent Martin of Catskill, one daughter Taylor Martin of Catskill and her beloved dog, Otis.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00. Pastor Lewis Obaro will officiate. Interment will follow in Town of Catskill Cemetery.

Her son Trevor wrote: "My heart overflows with sadness as I announce that last night our mom went to be with Jesus after an epic battle with pancreatic cancer. My siblings and I were blessed to be there with her until the end.

The profound sense of loss that we feel and the seemingly endless void that she left acts a final testament to the magnitude of the person she was. Ever efficient, in her brief time with us she conveyed a lifetime of wisdom, compassion, generosity and love. So much so that, while I did not choose to have her as my mother, I wouldn’t trade the time we spent for anything in the world.

My mom would not want us to make a big fuss out of this. After all, she never lived for herself. She lived every moment to bring more light into the world and the people around her. She was a Dawn in the truest sense. What we can do, then, is work together to make sure the light that she worked so hard, through pain and travail, to kindle never goes out. We can love and help each other a little more, and we can draw closer to God. She always said she was going through this for some greater purpose. I don’t know what that is right now, but together we can make something beautiful out of this. It’s the least we can do. "
