Mrs. Townley was born in Albany on July 20, 1927 to the late Raymond and Helen Wickham Snyder. She was an active member of the Purling Rod & Gun Club, Earlton Fire Co. Ladies' Auxiliary, Past-President of the Gr. Co. Volunteer Firemen's Association's Ladies' Auxiliary, and the VFW's Ladies' Auxiliary formerly located in Cairo.
She is survived by her husband, Edison Townley of Coxsackie; their four children: Ronald Townley of Athens, Diane Van Alstyne of Coxsackie, Mrs. Wayne (Gail) Van Kampen of Coeymans Hollow, and Mrs. John (Lisa) Millett of Purling; daughter-in-law Jeanne Townley of Athens; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Whittaker, Eugene & William Van Alstyne, Michael & Elisha Van Kampen, Joshua & Cassidy Millett; six great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Vermilyea of Catskill; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson, David Ronald Townley on February 6, 2000; two brothers: William & Ronald Snyder; two sisters: Loretta Muntz and Cora McCann.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14 at 1 p.m. in the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill with Rev. Richard Snowden, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Catskill officiating. Interment will follow in the Town of Catskill Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
