Mr. Bennett was born in Newburgh on March 15, 1943 to the late Earl Frederick Bennett and Trine Reichle Bennett. He was retired from CSX as a conductor, past-president of the Rip Van Winkle Rod & Gun Club and member of Wallkill F & AM Lodge 627.
He is survived by his daugher Jill C. Toole of Catskill and son Earl F. Bennett II of Schenectady; granddaughter Rileigh Anne Toole and grandson Earl James Bennett; brother David S. Bennett of Davenport, FL and sister Donna J. Rouillier of Inglis, FL; niece Nadine Cremo; four step-children: Jennie Barclay of Utah, Judy Murran of Columbus, OH, Joyce Murran, and Charles Murran both of Catskill; live-in-companion Sherry Lazaroff and her daughter Mrs. Michael (Shelley) Kinsch and grandson Aidan Kinsch of Glasco as well as his first wife Lucinda Louise Sharp Brady of Clark Summit, PA. He was predeceased by his second wife Sally Van De Water Murran Bennett on January 15, 2004.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Hts. in Catskill with Rev. Stanley Webster, hospice chaplain officiating followed by private cremation at the Albany Rural Crematorium. Committal will take place in the Palenville Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Members of Masonic Lodge 627 are requested to attend services at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Co.
