Eugene was born in Whitestone, NY a son of Eugene and Marguerite Lark Hatton. He graduated St. John’s University, Queens. After graduation he married Mary Hatton in 1973 and moved to Greene County. There, he pursued a career in automotive finance and then proudly served on the Athens Town Board and eventually with the Greene County Legislature. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church, Athens and served on the finance committee for many years. He was also involved in community service including Athens Community Trust Foundation and Cornell Cooperative Extension.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Mary Hatton, sons, Gerard Hatton and his fiancée Cara and Michael Hatton and his wife Emily; brothers, Laurence and Daniel Hatton; many nieces and cousins also survive.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill. The funeral procession will form on Friday between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, 24 N. Washington St., Athens at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick’s Church, Athens.
