Obituary

Fred A. Roy died in Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital on December 26, 2006 surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He had fought a long battle with lung and brain cancer and coronary disease.
He was born on February 10, 1933 in Prattsville to the late Fred and Mae Hydomen Roy and after a difficult childhood joined the US Army and served from 1951 to 1954. After his discharge he settled in Freehold and married the former Mayrose Curschmann in 1957.
He was a stoic man who earned the respect and admiration of many. He was a master craftsman in wood and created many wonderful examples of his talent. He loved to play pinochle, working with small antique engines, gardening and landscaping. He retired in 2004 from the Greene County Buildings and Grounds Department where he had earned the distinction of Employee of the Year. He truly loved the County he was employed by. His gentle face and smile will be missed by many.
