Nov. 13, 1912 in New York City and was the son of Joseph and Ida (Duerr)
Fred moved to Leeds, NY at the age of 7 when his parents purchased the
Mohican Trading Post in Leeds. He attended school at Leeds Elementary and
Catskill High School. Fred was a lifelong member of St. Bridget’s Roman
Catholic Church of Leeds until its closing in recent years.
Fred can be remembered as the owner of Breunig Signs and for the many
signs, trucks, and store and office windows that he lettered throughout
Catskill and greater area of Greene and Columbia counties. His work
included animal pictures and descriptions found throughout the Catskill
Game Farm to Gold Leaf lettering found on Bank and Law Office windows in
Fred is survived by two sons Charles Breunig (Ruth) of Greenville, NY and
Thomas Breunig (Liz). Five grand children Robert Breunig, Frederick D.
Breunig, Mark Breunig, Christine Breunig, and Joy Breunig. Six
great-grandchildren Jeremy, McKenzie, Madison, Arianna, Angelina and
Ariella. A sister Florence Duignan. Nine nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his wife of over 66 years Agnes (Weissel) Breunig
and a sister Helen Ritter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at Millspaugh-Camerato
Funeral Home 139 Jefferson Heights Catskill on Tuesday April 2nd from
(11:00-1:00)pm. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm at the funeral home
