Resided in Catskill, NY
Born May 20, 1934, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Gordon was the son of the late George and Eunice (Atcherson) Gibson. Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Rose Onigian Gibson.
Gordon had a strict moral code for himself and led by example as he raised his 4 daughters to think of others and to do the right thing. A loving husband, father and grandfather, we were blessed to have benefited from his guidance and leadership.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, swimming, boating, traveling, country music, and especially time with his family! He was active in many organizations, including over 50 years in the Masons, and became Master of the Catskill Lodge three times. He also served in many leadership roles in the Royal Order of Jesters, Knights of the Red Cross, Cypress Temple Hillbilly Band and past President of the Catskill Rotary Club. Gordon is a past president of Greene County Shrine Club and frequently drove children and their families to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield, Mass.
During high school, Gordon attended trade school, and a printing apprenticeship and printing became his lifelong profession. Gordon worked in several print shops over the years before purchasing The Catskill Enterprise from Raymond Galt in 1970. He hired numerous employees, including his wife and daughters and placed a high degree of importance on honesty and integrity. He sold the business in 1998.
We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to the entire staff at The Pines of Catskill Nursing Facility for their loving care and personal attention given to our dad over these years. The Pines and its staff became his home and extended family.
He is survived by four loving daughters, Dana Masselli (John) of South Cairo, Linda Nicols (Howard) of Warrensburg, Sandy Kopec (Jim) of Broadalbin and Bonnie Kent (Jesse) of Catskill; his cherished grandchildren, Cheryl Gannon (Matt) of SC, John Masselli (Sandra) of NJ, Andrea Broach (Chris) of Washington, DC, Jessica Army (Bill) of Queens, Christine Nicols of Albany, Benjamin Nicols of Maine, Amanda Kent of Catskill, Paula Kent of Catskill, and great grandsons, Sean and Owen Gannon; one brother Norman Gibson (Betty) and one sister Darlene Starosielski (Paul.)
