Gordon had started singing as a choirboy when he was about 10 years old. He continued his musical career, taking piano and singing lessons. He joined Robert Shaw Chorale. He sang in the Chorale until shortly before he enlisted in the U. S. Marines. He served in the South Pacific for almost 4 years during World War II in the US Marine Corp.
When he returned home after his discharge, he contacted Robert Shaw, who was now conducting the Fred Waring Glee Club. Gordon was hired to join the Fred Waring Orchestra an Glee Club where he sang until the early 50’s. He continued performing in Night Clubs in and around New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
He recognized that there was a need for a Home Base for performers, where they could have a permanent address and phone number to receive their messages and mail, when they were out of town. As the business grew, so did the number of stars that his company serviced, such as Alan Alda, Barbra Streisand, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, and Denzel Washington, among many others. His business continued to grow into a large group of Media/ Television response Companies. He retired in the 1980’s.
After his move to Palenville, he started painting in his newly built studio, something he was unable to do in their apartment in the city.
