Mr. Rossmann was born in Schwabsburg, Germany on April 25, 1924 to the late Jacob and Marie Horn Rossmann. He was a veteran of WWII, having served as a soldier with German army and as a POW, fell in love with our country and became a proud citizen in 1952. He married the former Anna Frank on May 13, 1950. He was the proprietor of the Catskill Motor Court for 30 years as well as a member of the Greene County Tourism Association and a former member of the Kiskatom Fire Co. Those who knew him best would say "he roared like a lion, was as gentle as a lamb, and as stubborn as a bull".
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Anna Rossmann of Catskill, their son Manfred (Marie) Rossman of Catskill and daughter Elaine (Tom) Carpenter of Palenville; four grandchildren: Jacob Carpenter of Kingston, Leah Rossmann of Baltimore, Kayla Carpenter of Brighton, MA, and Damian Rossmann of Catskill. He was predeceased by his twin brother Georg Rossmann.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 27 at 11 a.m. in the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill with interment following in the former Catskill Rural Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene at 47 Liberty St. Catskill, NY 12414.
