Mr. Whitehead was born in Tuskegee, AL on April 12, 1929 to the late Rozell and Lonnie B. Sullivan Whitehead. He had been employed at American Valve in Coxsackie prior to his retirement. He was an active member of the Mount Tabor A.M.E. Zion Church on Water Street in Catskill.
Mr. Whitehead is survived by two sons: Rozell Whitehead and Timothy Whitehead; Tim's fiance Tricia Grayton both of Albany; seven granddaughters: Kenya Whitehead, Shamia Whitehead, Timesha Whitehead, Barbara Whitehead, Latifah Irvis, Mecca Whitehead, and Hiydia Whitehead; four great-grandchildren: Nasseem Coleman, Kasir Goldston, Deshawn Caldwell, and Azaih Edmunds; his brother Rozell Whitehead, Jr; two sisters: Nancy Caroline Jacobs and Frances Whitehead. He was predeceased by two sons: James Whitehead, Jr. and Orlander Whitehead and his wife, Bessie McGarity Whitehead on October 15, 1980
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at noon in the Second Baptist Church on Main Street with interment following in the Town of Catskill Cemetery East Side. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the church from 10 a.m. till Noon. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill.
