He was born December 13, 1943 to the late Margaret and Michael Dunn in Brooklyn.
John was a Merchant Marine Engineer holding a US Coast Guard license. He worked as an engineer on eastern seaboard tugboats in the 1980's and was proud to have worked as the Assistant Marine Superintendent for the Circle Line Statue of Liberty Ferry through 2004.
His 1955 Oldsmobile was his main hobby; he also loved fishing and bowling and was the past chief of the Kiskatom Fire Department.
John is survived by his wife, Karin Dunn; his five children: John Dunn, James Dunn, Karin Henderson, William Dunn, and Anne Dunn; his two brothers: Robert and William Dunn; two sisters: Margaret Rogan and Carol Kelleher; four grandchildren as well as many relatives and countless people who knew him as a friend.
Friends and family may call at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill on Sunday, June 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 24 at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church in Palenville with Rev.
