John Parker Duncan, age 79 of Athens, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospice in Albany.
Mr. Duncan was born in South Cairo on January 21, 1929 to the late V. Lamont and Dorothy Agnes Parker Duncan. He was a graduate of Cairo High School and had been employed as a laborer and dispatcher for the NYSDOT in Cairo prior to his retirement. He married the former Agnes Bova on September 1, 1952 and they are both members of the Church of St. Patrick in Athens and the Athens and Coxsackie Senior Fellowship Clubs.
He is survived by their two children: Kevin A. Duncan of Milton, VT and Lisa D. Holsopple of Leeds; four grandchildren: Noelle Duncan, Danielle Duncan, Ryan Holsopple, and Liam Holsopple; his brother Bud Duncan of South Cairo, two nephews: Edward and Douglas Duncan, and niece Helena Duncan.
Private cremation was conducted on Monday at the Albany Rural Crematorium. Friends and relatives will be received at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. prior to a prayer service officiated by Sister Mary L. Mazza, Parish Life Director of the Church in St. Patrick in Athens and Catskill. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Hospice in Albany.
