He was born on July 20, 1920 in Altoona, PA to the late John Francis and Clarice Foore Attig. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the Army in the Pacific area with the 377th Harbor Craft Unit. He retired in 1980 after 34 years of service with the NYS Dept. of Correction at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Theresa Halm Attig and their three daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy and Joseph Adragna of Earlton, Paula and Brent Rozell of Earlton, Judy and John Hildenbrand of Manhattan, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law John and Cathy Attig of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Ann Rawson of Newport News, VA, Shirley Limbeck of Fairfax, VA, and Jeanne Hurd of PA.
Private cremation was conducted Friday at the Albany Rural Crematorium under the direction of the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill. Memorial services and interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery will be private.
