Kiskatom - Margaret “Peggy” Story, of Story Farms, was united with the love of her life, Matthew Story, Jr. on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Following a recent hospitalization, Peggy was able to return to her beloved home and farm and be surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Story owned and operated the Story Farms along with Matthew, since their marriage in 1953. Mrs. Story played an active role in the operation of the farm stand. However, her greatest contribution will always be remembered as the nurturing and loving “glue” that cemented their large family together.

The loving environment created by Peggy and Matt drew all their family members to the farm. Their home and farm have always been the gathering place for wonderful holiday celebrations. Peggy was content in knowing that the farm is in good hands and will continue for many generations to come.

Peggy was born on April 14, 1933 in White Plains, to the late George and Hazel Stewart. They moved to Catskill when Peggy was a young girl. Peggy met and fell in love with Matt at Catskill High School, where she graduated.

Peggy graduated from Business School in Kingston. Upon graduation, Peggy worked for a brief time at Central Hudson. She proudly used her business skills to be the bookkeeper for the farm, up until the recent past. Peggy was an active member of the Kiskatom Reformed Church.

Her greatest treasure was her family, who include her children Matthew Story III, Kathleen and John Ciampa, James and Irene Story, Joann and John DeForest, Cynthia and Thomas Shanley, Melissa Story and Joseph Picuri. Peggy adored her 22 grandchildren, their families and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday at 10:00 am at the funeral home followed by interment, next to her Matt, in the Town of Catskill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to “Kiskatom Reformed Church” (for Camp Fowler scholarships), 4865 Route 32, Catskill 12414. Messages of condolence may be made to MillspaughCamerato.com.
