Marlene Weis Obituary

Marlene L Weis
Marlene L Weis

Marlene L. Weis, 76, of 43 S. Lincoln Drive, Cairo, NY, passed into eternal life at her home on March 27, 2013. She was born January 24, 1937 in Catskill, second daughter of the late Henry E. Lembke and Ellen J. (Sutton) Lembke. As a child, Marlene was baptized at the Kiskatom Reformed Church, where she became a member through Confirmation classes in 1953. There also, she married her first husband, Arnold C. Wase, on July 16, 1955.
Once her mind was made up about something, Marlene wouldn’t change it. She tackled everything head-on in her life, determined to make the best of it. Her favorite way to relax was sun-bathing and fun activities included snowmobiling, boating, and especially motorcycle riding. An Elvis Presley fan, she visited Graceland at least twice. In late years, her constant companions were Pooter, then Jody; two loving, faithful little dogs. As long as she was able, she tended to her lawn and flower garden.
Marlene is survived by her three sons, Michael W. (Carol) Wase, Stephen A. (Trish) Wase, Darryl C. Wase, and a stepson Kevin (Val) Weis. Her grandchildren are Jenna, Marissa, Scott and Karlee Wase. Step-grandchildren are Kevin Weis, Jr., and Angela (Bobby) Santos; step-great-grandchildren are Brayden and Dylan Spinner, Savanna and Clayton James Santos. “Grammie” was happily anticipating the birth of her new great-grandson, James T. Irwin, Jr., scheduled to arrive on June 30, 2013. Also surviving are Marlene’s sister Betty Ellett, cousins Bill Freeman, Florence Flinn, Arthur Lembke, Marilyn Wilkinson, and Shirley Hilker, as well as several nephews and nieces, and many long-time dear friends too numerous to mention. She also spoke of her caring neighbors and their kind deeds.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ernest S. Lembke, former husbands Arnold Wase and Lloyd Weis, and grandson Stephen Wase.
Arrangements for cremation are with Millspaugh- Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights Catskill, NY. A time of reflection and remembrance is planned for Monday April 1, from 6 – 8 PM at the Funeral Home, with a graveside service on Tuesday, April 2 at 9AM at Town of Catskill Cemetery. Electronic condolences may be sent to www.millspaughcamerato.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 47 Liberty St., Catskill, NY 12414.
