She was born on April 18, 1921 to the late Fred and Ethel Moss Reynold in Durham, NY. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1938 and Albany Business School in 1940. She had been a mathematics teacher at Catskill High School prior to her employment at the Commercial Mutual Insurance Company from which she retired in 1983.
She received the Greene County Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award in 1993 for her volunteer service in the RSVP and Meals on Wheels programs. She was an active member of the First Reformed Church in Catskill and the On-Ti-Ora Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
In 2000 Mrs. Eden moved to West Ashley, SC where she was active as a volunteer for Ron Secour St. Francis and Roper Hospitals and was awarded their Outstanding Volunteer of the Month. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Charleston and the Ft. Sullivan Daughters of the American Revolution and the Shepherds Center.
She is survived by her two daughters: Mrs. Joel (Susan) Berlinghleri and Mrs. Lynn (Carolyn) Richbart, both of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren: Joel Berlinghleri of Arlington, VA, Megan Mangefrida of Philadelphia, PA, and Paul Mangefrida of LeRoy, Genesee County; nieces in North Carolina and Colorada, as well as a nephew in Texas. She was predeceased by her husband, George Eden in 1971.
Memorial services were held in the chapel of the hospital in which she volunteered on December 27, 2006. A Committal Service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 in the Cairo Cemetery at 1 p.m. The members of the On-Ti-Ora Chapter NSDAR will commemorate her with an insignia marker and all are invited to attend with her family.
