Phyllis Farrell, age 93, passed away January 9, 2008 at Kaaterskill Care Nursing and Rehab where she had been a resident since 2004. Born on June 1, 1914 in Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Doris (Crawford) Woods. Her husband Edward J. Farrell predeceased her in 1976.
Phyllis was retired from Greene County and had also worked for many years at the Police Recreation Center in Platte Clove and the Fromer Insurance Company in Tannersville. She had been a Republican Committee Person in the Town of Hunter. She resided in Catskill since 1974 and after her retirement in 1983 she volunteered for the Greene County Department for the Aging for over 12 years as a Homebound Transportation driver and delivered meals to the homebound. She was also an accomplished local artist and seamstress. She especially enjoyed getting together with other artists and sketching and painting.
She is survived by her step-daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Edward Dolan of Athens and her grandchildren: Christine (Robert) Young, Cathleen (Ed) Hodor, Mary (Charles) Rappleyea, Paul (Jame) Dolan, Thomas (Nancy) Dolan, Sharon (Robert) Del Gaudio, Michael Dolan, Phillip (Rhonda) Dolan, Cynthia (James) Carlson, and Colleen (Scott) Fischer as well as many great-grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews also survive her: Rev. Susan Baker-Borjeson, Audrey Woods, Jane Woods Greenberg, Ann Robertson, Patty Krause, Kathy Krause, Paul Krause, and Joan Semsey. Her sister Dorothy Krause and brothers Allan and Gordon Woods predeceased her.
Arrangements under the direction of the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home in Catskill. Services will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church, 70 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, NY on January 18, 2008 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Susan Baker-Borjeson presiding. Interment will be in the spring at the family's convenience. Donations in Phyllis' memory may be made to the Greene County Department for the Aging-Homebound Transportation Program.
