Randy passed away on October 24, 2017, after a long illness, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY.
Randall Keith Buck was born on March 26, 1952, in Johnson City to Steve Buck and Ida Welch.
After graduating from University High, and attending ETSU and Milligan College, both in his home environs, he relocated to New York City and graduated from NYU’s Experimental Theater Wing. His work as actor, director, or writer has been seen from LaMama to La Scala; at Joe’s Pub, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, France’s national theater, the TNP, commercial runs in Paris and off-Broadway, and various cabarets in New York and Europe. He wrote lyrics for title tunes for two PS Classics albums, Greenwich Time (Rebecca Luker) and Love on a Summer Afternoon (Sam Davis).
The Barter Theater produced his play, Adjoining Trances, in 2009, and a musical, Swamp Gas and Shallow Feelings, for which he wrote book and lyrics, in 2012.
He is survived by his favorite cousins, Becky Daniels of Johnson City, and Dolores Hart of Elizabethton, his partner of 26 years (and husband since 2008), Daniel Jacoby of Hudson, NY, and his two loving dogs, PoMo and Tillie.
