Bob graduated from Upsala College, NJ and went on to become a surveyor and chief of survey practices on the Albany South Mall. He was a member of the Operating Engineers 545D and eventually became the administrator of the Operating Engineers Welfare and Pension Fund for all of New York State with the exception of New York City.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon of Catskill, four children Rachel Coleman of Niskayuna, Aaron (Lisa) Van Dyke of Catskill, Cheryl (Brinson) Crews of Woodbine, GA and Sarah Van Dyke of Coxsackie. He leaves behind his grandchildren Hannah Houston, Reilly Coleman, Kenyon Coleman, Jasmine Van Dyke, Samantha Van Dyke and Caleb Van Dyke. He is also survived by his brother George Van Dyke of Washington, NJ and his sister Carol Centamore of White Township, NJ as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother Theodore “Fred” Van Dyke.
A memorial service will be held in Haines Falls in the spring. Bob spent many wonderful hours in his home in Haines Falls and loved the Catskill Mountains and his friends and neighbors. He took great pleasure in volunteering for the Mountain Top Historical Society and was actively involved in the Haines family reunions. He will be missed.
