Born in, Jersey City, New Jersey, June 19, 1939, he was the son of the late Inspector August and Rita Robbiani.
Bob resided in Weehawken, NJ for over 50 years and began spending weekends in Leeds during the 1970's. After retirement he moved to the area full time in 2001.
He was awarded the Edgar G. Bacon 4 year scholarship to Rutgers University in 1957, Proudly served in the US Army, Worked for The Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing, Social worker for the Bureau of NYC Location Support, Supervisor of Child Protective Services, Supervisor of The Men's Shelter in NYC, and the Supervisor of The Women's Shelter in Bronx, NY.
His greatest joy was going above and beyond to help his friends and family. His love, spirit, and generosity were larger than life. Known for always remembering a special occasion or birthday by sending a unique card, never failing to find the right piece of jewelry for all the women in his life, cutting firewood for the masses, although he never owned a fireplace, and his mastery of intellectual stories and eclectic knowledge. A selfless, humble, super-hero, defending any person or animal in need. Uncle Bob's legendary bellow, "OH NO!" will forever resound in our hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Dee Cotherman Robbiani, on August 23, 2007.
Survivors include his two children, Debra Phillips (Levon Bedrosian) of Stormville, NY and Ray Phillips of NY; his two grandchildren, Alexandra Deette Hazelton and Brandon Phillips, his four siblings, Rita (Milan) Straka, Aurora Hoover, Michael (Kathleen) Robbiani, Thomas (Jean) Robbiani, and many of his loving nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday May 31, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights, Catskill. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Monday at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 1st at 10:00am at St. Mary's Church, 429 E. Allen St., Hudson, NY. The Rev. Winston Bath, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow at the Town of Catskill Cemetery of Catskill.
