Sheila Rose Ruth (nee Sherman) Mann Rowell, 65, born at Catskill on July 27, 1947, died January 3, 2013, at Cairo, NY. She was the longtime secretary of the late Dr. Paul M. Snapper, M.D., of Catskill, and had formerly resided at 222 Jefferson Heights in Catskill, New York. She was a 1965 graduate of Catskill High School and attended Albany Business College. She enjoyed a marvelous childhood traveling North and South America with her parents, until her fatherâ€(TM)s death. His passing left a void in her life never again filled. She was a single divorced mother before it became commonplace, with much help from her mother and family.
Cherished daughter of the late Alvin â€śAbeâ€ť & Erma (Cooke) Sherman; former wife of the late Edward Leonard Mann, Jr., granddaughter of the late Joseph & Jennie (Katz) Sherman and the late Michael & Rose (Daisernia) Cooke, all of Catskill; daughter-in-law of the late Edward & Vincenza (Cutrupi) Mann of Leeds; niece in law of the late Miss Carolina Cutrupi of Leeds; niece of the late Mrs. John (Mary) DeLuca, Sr., Mrs. James (Julia) Romano, Sr., Mrs. Alvin (Jane) Applebaum, Mrs. Thomas (Irene) Maher; Mr. & Mrs. Michael Cooke, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Damian Cooke; Albert, Anthony, Cosmo, and Louis Cooke; Mrs. Paul (Sylvia) Tenenbaum, Miss Ruth â€śTootsieâ€ť Sherman, and David and Max Sherman.
She leaves her son, Steven Mann and his partner Dennis Anderson, of Rhinebeck; sister-in-law Mrs. Theresa (Mann) LaSala of Coxsackie, two aunts â€" Mrs. Santa Cooke of Catskill and Mrs. Muriel Cooke of Athens, and numerous cousins including Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Cooke, Mr. & Mrs. Christopher Cooke, Mrs. Jeannie Olivett Micewicz, Miss Phyllis J. DeLuca, Mrs. Jean DeLuca, Irwin Tenenbaum, Jeffrey Tenenbaum, Mrs. Richard (Marlene) Fischer and sons, Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Sherman and sons, all of or formerly of Catskill; Mrs. Vincent (Lynn) Apa and sons of Clifton Park; Dr. Anthony DeLuca, M.D., of Glenmont; Mrs. Anthony Theresa DeLuca of Albany; and Gerald DeLuca of Ravena.
The family will privately convene at the Millspaugh-Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights, Catskill Friday, June 7, beginning at 9:30 AM, with her son speaking at 10:00. The cortiage will proceed to Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Avenue, for a public memorial service at 12:00. Inurnment will follow 3:00 PM in Catskill Rural Cemetery (Town of Catskill East), with unveiling afterwards. Rabbi Zoe B. Zak of Temple Israel in Catskill will preside.
