Obituary

Werner L. Knudsen, 83, of Vedder Mtn. Rd., Catskill passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018.

He was born in the Bronx, a son of the late Volkert and Elly Zielasko Knudsen. Werner served in the US Navy from 1953-1957. He then moved to Randolph, NJ with his family and graduated from Upsala College, East Orange, NJ. Before moving to Catskill, Werner was employed by the West Milford, NJ schools.

A Catskill resident for many years, Werner taught German at the Ravena Coeymans School District for over 28 years. He retired at age 57.

Werner belonged to the Foher Verein (German social group), he served as past president for 5 years in the Rip Van Winkle Senior Club and belonged to the Silver Linings, Catskill. Werner enjoyed fishing with his sons, skiing and taking cruises. He also had a great sense of humor.

His first wife, Anita Schmidt Knudsen died in 1977.

Loving husband of Lynne Knudsen; father of Kurt Knudsen of Syracuse, Jon Knudsen (Doreen) of Catskill; step father of Lynne Anne Burns of E. Nassau and Mary Davis of Port St. Lucie, FL, brother of Eleanor Norman of Dobbs Ferry; grandfather of Loren Knudsen, Lynzie Darling, Meagan and Morgan Mihaly, Hunter and Austin Davis; great grandfather of Riley Fleckenginer; uncle of Stuart Norman of Dobbs Ferry.

His family wishes to thank Hospice for their 16 months of wonderful care for Werner. Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to Community Hospice, 47 Liberty St, Catskill, NY 12414.

Interment will be private, at the convenience of his family. Arrangements by Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill.
