Mr. Drescher was born in Bergen, New Jersey on August 13, 1920 to the late Frederick and Wilhemina Diebolf Drescher. He enlisted in the US Army on January 11, 1943 and served with the 198th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion in Luzon, New Guinea, and the Southern Phillipines earning the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal-Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, and World War II Victory Medal. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant on January 20, 1946. He retired as a supervisor at American Valve in Coxsackie and was a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 1341, Honeyford Memorial American Legion Post, former member of Hose Co. #5, and former volunteer on their ambulance.
Mr. Drescher is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Joanne Drescher of Catskill; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lorraine Drescher and Winifred Holton; brother Emmanuel Drescher as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Blanche Wolven Drescher on April 30, 1980 and their daughter Jane Dedrick.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill on Friday from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. when a funeral service will be conducted by family clergy.
