Obituary

William H. Ellett, 75, died December 27, 2009 at his home on Paul Saxe Road in Catskill after an eight month battle against colon cancer. Born January 14, 1934 in Lafayette, NJ, he was the son of the late Eston J. and Elizabeth G. (Hansson) Ellett of Cairo.
Bill was a 1952 graduate of Cairo High School, a ten year member of the New York National Guard, and an employee of IBM-Kingston for 35 years. Always an active participant in his community, Bill was a member of the Kiskatom Fire Dept. for 48 years, as well as a member of Greene County Fire Police. He belonged to the Kiskatom Reformed Church and served on Consistory. Bill enjoyed being involved with youth while his sons were growing up, as an umpire with Palenville Little League and assistant with Palenville Boy Scout Troop 100. Camp Tri-Mount excursions with the scouts were a highlight in his life. After his retirement from IBM in 1991, Bill enjoyed ten years of part-time employment as a Traffic Control Officer (flagger) for Central Hudson and its contracted tree trimming crews. He was known as "the guy with the orange cowboy hat", which description was used whenever a crew especially requested him as flagger.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth G. (Lembke) Ellett; sons Edward D., Robert W., James E. (Lorraine), and Daniel L. (Brenda) Ellett; daughter Mrs. James (Rebecca L.) Ronk, all of Catskill; grandchildren: Crystal Wagor, Jason Ellett, Elizabeth Walter of Kingston, Joy Biasutto of Purling, Shannon Ellett, Robert Ellett, Jr., Michelle Allshouse, Natasha Botto, Alanis Ronk, and two step-granddaughters: Lacey (Ben) Hansen and Jessica Wagenbaugh, all of Catskill; in addition to 14 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his brother Dave (Karen) Ellett, niece Teri Ellett, nephew Dennis Ellett of Greenville, sister-in-law Marlene Weis of Cairo, nephews Michael (Carol) and Stephen (Trish) Wase of Catskill and Darryl Wase of Freehold; several cousins in NY, NJ,PA and many caring friends and neighbors.
There will be no viewing hours or formal services. Cremation is in the care of the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
