Born in Geneva, NY
Resided in Catskill, NY
Wilma was born and raised in Geneva and Athens, NY and was a graduate of Coxsackie-Athens High School. She met the love of her life, Bill Darling, at a wedding, where she was the Maid of Honor and he served as an Usher. This meeting worked out perfectly, as Match.com had yet to exist. Wilma worked as a secretary in the Catskill Court House and then as a bookkeeper for Catskill Grocery Company before retiring from Ginsberg’s Foods in 1998.
Wilma enjoyed traveling, Fox News, going for walks at Catskill Point, low gas prices and unlimited refills.
Her passions included triple-checking all locks, shopping for jewelry and Alfred Dunner clothing (“Garanimals for grown-ups” as her daughter referred to them), Stewart’s vanilla ice cream and microwave popcorn. She was a master of the crochet needle and sewing machine, baker of breads, cakes and pies, and lastly, known for her famous coleslaw (her son’s favorite). She didn’t suffer fools, nor sugar-coated her opinions. Wilma had a huge and generous heart, helping and caring for others in need. She believed in God wholeheartedly and that his guidance would see her through all of life’s obstacles.
She joins in heaven her parents, Roma and Bertha Tiffany, sister Fern Adele Tiffany, and Wilma’s precious babies who passed away shortly after birth.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, William Darling of Catskill, son Wayne Darling (and wife Joanne) of Clifton Park, daughter Wendy Darling of Albany, and grandson Adam Darling of Clifton Park, her sweetie who brought her tremendous joy.
A private graveside service, with close family and friends, will be held on Thursday at 11am at the Catskill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send charitable donations, in Wilma’s honor, to Zion Lutheran Church, 102 N. Washington St., Athens, NY 12015. Arrangements by Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, Catskill. Messages of condolence may be made to MillspaughCamerato.com.
